The incredibly popular Brazilian version from the international reality television franchise Big Brother just began its 13th season about the Rede Globo network. Regardless if not watching the show, it’s difficult to escape this news coverage of who did what (the same as the inescapability of novela reporting). Not unlike the Winston character in the book 1984, through which the originally Dutch series takes its name, I felt like there seemed to be just one channel for anyone to watch in BBB 18. Sure, there are lots of channels, in reality, but there’s an unusual pull to linger on a Globo TV program when flipping through channels. Big Brother Brasil (BBB) is perfectly positioned to utilize this and, whether through its popularity or its timeslot, people tune in.
In the event you have no idea just what the show is about, here’s the overall premise. Around 15 contestants (mostly model/actor types) get put in a property, fully equipped with many cameras, that they cannot leave unless voted out. Every week, the house guests vote on who they wish to see gone. In the center of it all, and so as to spice things up, there are strategic alliances, and in many cases romances, that transpire. The final person standing wins a large cash prize and hopefully fame.
The Brazilian version of your show is filmed in Rio de Janeiro at Globo’s main studio referred to as “Projac”. The studio is the largest of the kind in Latin America and one of several largest worldwide, also. The list of the BBB 2018 participantes house is reported to be one of the most sophisticated, equipment-wise, of all Big Brother houses worldwide. Whenever you can name a favorite show on Rede Globo, it’s almost surely recorded at Projac (including Xuxa, Domingão, Caldeirão do Huck, Malhação, Zorra Total, and many, if not completely, with their novelas).
While no person has really shot to fame after winning the contest, a lot of the contestants have gone to have successful careers in TV and modeling. Sabrina Sato, who maybe you have seen BBB2O18 Justin Bieber, was a television host about the comedy show Pânico. Grazi Massafera went on in becoming an actress in several novelas, and Íris Stefanelli is currently the host of TV Fama. Like with most celebrities in Brazil, fame means covering all of the bases, whether it be via television, film, adverts and, at some time, participating in a Carnival parade or school.
Despite, or rather, regardless of the participantes BBB 2018, it is often known as when Brazilians discuss the banality of the media in their country. As I don’t beg to differ, media throughout the world is experiencing the same malady in the catering to mass audiences. Every television viewer figures in to the ratings of the individual shows so, in one method or another, we’re playing a part in the success or failure of the show. When personally choosing what you should watch, I’m reminded from the media’s affect on a younger self, with Captain Planet’s call to action.
